Back Pain Relief With Acupuncture

Back Pain Treatment

The most common pain that is felt by men and women alike is back pain. It usually strikes as one gets older, but kids also feel the stress on their backs. Carrying heavy bags to school, courseware, laptops and so on, causes the spine to slowly degenerate. Posture also plays a key role in determining the strength of the spine of an individual. Standing or sitting with a straight back is hardly followed by kids and adults alike, which causes a series of upsets to the chains of the spine.

Addresses the Problem from Within

More and more people suffer from back pain because of a bad chair used during work, at school/college, and in general. A good mattress also helps alleviate the problem. However, when there is excruciating pain that a pain reliever cannot address, going under the knife does not have to be the solution. An alternative through the medium of acupuncture addresses the problem at the root and sorts it out effectively. The one criterion is to make pretty sure that one heads over to a licensed practitioner so that the pain does not recur. The clinic located in Columbus, OH has an expert in the medium of the ancient Chinese science. He deals with the cause and finds an effective cure through the diagnosis available to him. This link http://acupunctureofcolumbus.com/can-acupuncture-help-with-fibromyalgia-pain/ has detailed information about the clinic and its amazing healing power.

A Couple of Reasons Why Backache is Common

Upper back pain usually magnifies due to stressed out muscles, a pulled ligament, a spasm of the neck and tapers down to the top of the spine. It could also manifest because of erratic schedules at the gym causing considerable wear and tear to the torso. Lifting heavy weights causes problems to the lower back, the mid-region, and the top. Osteoporosis, sciatica, obesity, nerve related woes, varicose veins, sluggish blood movement, limited exercise, and other issues damage the tissues. The bones ultimately feel the effects resulting in a slipped disk, curved spine, spondylitis, cervical damage and a host of other medical related conditions.

Progressive Alternative Solution

The acupuncturist uses fine sterilized needles on every patient by determining the extent of the condition. Once the prognosis has been featured into the program, a solution is worked out taking into account the age of the patient, damage to the spine and back, past medical conditions, hereditary factors, and so on and so forth. The method of acupuncture is very basic but it is very progressive as it deals with the issue from within. People with extensive pain will feel a sense of relief almost immediately. The advice, however, is to continue with the treatment plan based on the suggestion by the qualified doctor.

Removing Negative Chi

Today there are innumerable doctors who profess to understand the medium of the ancient Chinese science. However, it takes time to learn and implement the knowledge with the right procedure. It takes time, to understand the human body and the mind of the patient. Acupuncture works as a two way street of sorts in balancing out the negative chi and ironing out the inner pores for good a carefree life free from the rigors of pain and suffering.

Acupuncture for Back Pain

Back Pain Treatment

When your back is inflamed because of a fall or something you cannot fathom, you cannot ignore the pain. Since the spine may be affected, it is wise to check out whether any of the vertebrae has gone out of sync. To understand what has gone wrong, a scan will help. If required, one may need an operation.

If you have pain because of improper posture, a slipped disc or an underlying cause, acupuncture works rather well. This is a non-traditional method to treat back pain. It may not be your first choice of treatment, but once you try this ancient Chinese treatment, you will never opt for anything else. Many physicians on a global footing are advocating this treatment as it has helped people of every age suffering from immense pain. The treatment can be traced back to over 2000 years ago. Acupuncture treatment is based on the flow of energy. If there is a lack of the right energetic flow in the body, this ancient Chinese treatment is the remedy.

Methodology

Acupuncture treats every part of the body right from the central nervous system (brain and the spine) and beyond. The licensed professional finds a suitable medium in the body and inserts sterilized needles at strategic points. This can break the surface or go deeper depending on the extent of the problem. You may experience a slight tingling sensation once the procedure is underway. The needles don’t touch the bone but do touch deeper muscles or fat layers under the skin. This is kept on certain median points of the body for a good twenty to thirty minutes depending on the extent of damage to the areas. If required, the acupuncturist may warm the needles or charge them with the use of electricity on the needles after insertion.

The science behind acupuncture

The ancient Chinese treatment identifies thousands of points in the human body. These points, according to the science, are interconnected. Limited amounts of energy or ‘chi’ in the body result in problems like acute back pain. Sometimes people get these pains because of bad posture or due to an underlying problem in the body.

The narrowing of the lower part of the spine causes many pinched nerves. This also causes undue pain in the body resulting in a feeling of loss in the legs, irritable bowel movements, and swelling in the legs. Alternative treatment with acupuncture stimulates the nerves that are located in the muscles of the back. Through this stimulus, endorphins are released which reduces the excruciating pain.

Through a series of sessions (the treatment sessions varies depending on the extent of the problem), the inflammation and the pressure on the muscles and the joints are effectively reduced. The science deals with not only the pain but also the root cause of the problem as well.

The facts cannot be disputed about this ancient science. The results last for a long time. Instead of opting for a painkiller for temporary relief, opt for acupuncture.

Acupuncture for Back Pain Treatment

Back Pain Treatment

Lower back pain can be caused by various ailments. In younger adults (aged 30 to 40), it is commonly caused by back muscle strain or soft tissue strain, lumbar disc herniation, or maybe even degenerative disc disease. In adults over 60, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis or compression fracture is often what causes the pain. Back pain can cause difficulty ranging from mild soreness or dull aches and stiffness in movement to severe difficulty in movement and muscle spasms which can make walking or even standing very difficult. The problem with lower back pain is that it is extremely difficult to treat. Patients are advised to rest as much as they can, do some exercises for the lower back, use ice packs or heat packs to reduce inflammation, and prescribed pain medication which can have side effects. Over the past few years, however, many people with chronic back pain have found effective relief with acupuncture.

What is acupuncture and how will it treat back pain?

It involves thin needles being inserted into certain points on the body which stimulate something in the body. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) explains it as stimulating the ‘qi’, the life force in the body, in order to balance it. Western scientific medicine explains it as stimulating or triggering neurotransmitters and even hormone levels and the immune system. There are 14 major channels of energy on the body, with over 300 different points where needles can be inserted. These points are usually located at strategic locations, such as where a nerve meets a muscle, muscle and bone joints, and mid-points of muscles.

Studies have shown that treating back pain with acupuncture has been found to be more effective in relieving back pain than treating without acupuncture. Effects of the treatment come from:

  • Stimulating the nervous system in our body, triggering the release of tension or chemicals which have an effect on our sensation of pain, like opioid peptides,
  • Expediting the transmission of electromagnetic signals which can stimulate endorphins or the immune system, and
  • Altering brain chemistry by affecting neurotransmitters and/or hormones.

Getting acupuncture

Acupuncture is done by hand by trained acupuncturists. A detailed treatment plan is made according to the patient’s medical and pain history and health goals. The acupuncturist will study the patient’s tongue and other vital organs (by touch) to see whether any imbalances are visible. The treatment is done using sterile, disposable needles that are very thin, so the treatment is usually painless. Some people may experience tingling sensations which are completely normal. If electrical stimulations are involved in the therapy then patients will feel slight prickly sensations.
