Services – Community AcupunctureCommunity Acupuncture

Community treatments work well for many of our patients. In fact, some patients only visit us during our community shifts. Affordable, effective, and easy to schedule, these sessions take full advantage of many of the strongest acupuncture points located on the head, ears, arms and legs.

See the New Patients tab for information about a community acupuncture first visit.

We offer Community Acupuncture 7 days a week. Our payment range philosophy allows you to come for treatment as often as it is needed.

The Setting

It’s easy to relax in our Community Clinic – warm, inviting, and friendly. After getting comfortable in your recliner, an acupuncturist will be by to get you started. Others will be resting nearby in their own chairs.

Privacy in an open clinic.

Privacy and tranquility are easily accomplished with hushed voices and relaxing music in a cozy environment. Patients remain dressed; they simply pull up sleeves and pant legs. We need only to reach your head, neck, lower arms and legs to be able to offer a full, body-mind treatment.

The Treatment

One of our friendly and knowledgeable acupuncturists will speak with you briefly to learn what you’d like from your treatment. Hair-thin needles will be gently inserted into various acupuncture points to provide your body with the proper stimulation. They are typically left in place for 30-45 minutes on average.

Patients describe having an active mind when the needles first go in, then settling into a more relaxed mental state, drifting in and out in waves, and sometimes falling into a short, restful sleep.  Patients walk out feeling relaxed and recharged and often notice positive changes in other areas of their person that may not have been their reason for coming. These ‘side effects’ often include improved sleep and digestion, more energy, less stress, overall improved health and a sense of well-being.

The effectiveness will increase with frequency. We cluster treatments at the beginning (1-3 per week is common for the first few weeks of treatment) so you can begin to see results sooner.

Community vs. Private Treatments

How do I know which one I need?

For 90% of people and 90% of the problems that they are dealing with, Community Acupuncture Treatments work amazingly well. Their affordability and convenience allow for ongoing treatments that are often required for managing chronic diseases or symptoms.

However, sometimes, a Private Acupuncture Treatment may be utilized to provide the much-needed relief from a stubborn or complicated medical issue. It allows different parts of the body to be treated directly as well as for additional methods of stimulation to be added to the treatment when appropriate. Such opportunity can yield a significant shift in a person’s overall condition especially if improvement seems to be plateauing at any point in the treatment process.

Reasons I might want to consider scheduling a Private Acupuncture Treatment:

  • I am concerned about being treated in a communal environment. Or, I am not comfortable being treated in a recliner.
  • I have a complicated medical history with many problems.
  • I have many questions and would like to have more consultation time with the acupuncturist who is going to be treating me.
  • I have had more than five Community Acupuncture Treatments with little or no progress made towards managing my primary condition.
  • My problem is located on the back side of my body, and I feel that it will only get better with direct treatment to that location.
  • I have a chronic pain issue, am preparing for an IVF/IUI cycle, or have another condition for which electric stimulation of the acupuncture needles (Electroacupuncture) has been recommended.
  • I have had private acupuncture treatments in the past and responded well to them.
  • My health insurance plan includes coverage for acupuncture by a Licensed Acupuncturist, and I plan to submit paperwork for reimbursement. (*Note:  We do not bill your insurance directly.)

Pro Tip:

Consider supplementing your Community Treatments with a Private Acupuncture Treatment when you feel like your body needs an extra boost or a significant change to occur. And, you’re always free to alternate between different types of treatment as needed.
