About Us – Larissa Kopestonsky
she/her/hers
My relationship with acupuncture began with a friendship. I was fortunate enough to have a vibrant, enthusiastic, amazing neighbor who just happened to be the co-owner of Urban Acupuncture Center. One day, my back went out while picking up my 3-year old son. My neighbor, Susan Bowlus, offered to treat me with acupuncture. After 2 treatments, my pain was completely gone, I had full range of motion, and subsequently, I became an acupuncture advocate. When she later mentioned that they were looking for someone with a business background to help with office duties, I volunteered.
Before coming to work at Urban Acupuncture, I spent 20 years as a Recreation Therapist, camp director, training director, adventure & outdoor educator, and wilderness trip leader. I began my college career as an art major at Kent State University, but ended up with a degree in Commercial Recreation & Tourism and a minor in business management. I followed that up with a Mater’s degree in Recreational Therapy from SUNY Cortland. A common thread in both my educational and occupational experiences has been a passion for helping people build the skills, confidence, and habits necessary to live a functionally independent and fulfilling life. Working the majority of my life outdoors, I have learned that in all things there must be balance. Acupuncture helps people to maintain physical and emotional balance in their lives. I am grateful to be part of a phenomenal community organization that assists people on their journey toward holistic well-being.
When I am not at Urban Acupuncture, you can find me outdoors, playing with my children, traveling, creating art, running, reading, or relaxing.
