When used in conjunction with Western fertility treatments, acupuncture increases conception rates by 26%. A recent study from Tel Aviv University reports, ““When combining IUI with TCM treatments, 65.5 percent of the test group were able to conceive, compared with 39.4 percent of the control group, who received no herbal or acupuncture therapy.” For the 4.5 million couples experiencing infertility each year, acupuncture may be just what the doctor ordered.
Acupuncture can increase fertility by reducing stress, increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs and balancing the endocrine system, according to several studies and medical research. “The goal of an infertility treatment from a Chinese Medicine perspective is not just to get pregnant, but to stay pregnant and to have a healthy baby,” says Deb Davies, LAc, a Pacific College alumnus who practices at Herbin Acupuncture and Wellness in San Diego. Among many other benefits, acupuncture can provide better blood flow to the ovaries and uterus, creating a stronger chance for an egg to be nourished and carried to term. Read more…

In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment
Having a baby in your late thirties or even the forties is no longer looked on as something weird. Women, the world over are putting off having babies until they are ready. Work and career play a vital role, as is economic independence. The odds of getting pregnant through in vitro fertilization are easier if you were to go through a series of needle pricks with acupuncture. Many studies that have claimed that fertility and the ancient Chinese science work in tandem. What makes this alternative treatment so effective for IVF is because it improves uterine blood flow making the environment hospitable for implantation.
Make the Environment Baby Ready
Stress hormones have a tendency of inhibiting the progress of getting pregnant. Being in the thick of constant fertility treatments for the prospective mother can cause extra stress resulting in an infertile environment. The alternative treatment calms the nerves and stress levels of the patient decline. This is extremely crucial when having a child is the focus. To achieve the benefits of the treatment, one can consider an acupuncture session on the day of the embryo transfer. It is wise to consult with the doctor and organize the two for the same day. In fact, given that, this form of treatment is available; many maternity clinics have employed professionals in the field to aid patients in their quest to have a baby.
The Licensed Acupuncturist
The practitioner, Steve Drugan located in Columbus, OH uses the traditional Chinese treatment to strengthen the health of the patient. In doing so, the patient will have a healthy womb for conception to take place. The therapy improves the follicular and ovarian functions by increasing blood flow to the endometrium. A woman who chooses IVF does so because the normal process of being ‘knocked up’ is not on the cards for a variety of reasons. Going through the pattern where one rids the body of free radicals and negative energy will make the process of conception much easier. By targeting certain medians in the body, the practitioner rids the body of negative forces that take root, and prep the area for a healthy pregnancy.
In any science, there are no guaranteed results. It takes time, patience and cutting back on stress that makes the process relatively easier. Fertility treatments cause women considerable tension, especially if the treatment was not successful in the past. From all accounts, acupuncture definitely relaxes the patient. In doing so, emphasis on stress and worry is eliminated keeping the fertility option quite high. Being riddled with polycystic ovarian syndrome can cause an upset in the fertility charts. Obesity can also be a reason why many plus sized women find it difficult to conceive. Excessive smoking or a crazed lifestyle with erratic dieting can also reduce the chances of conception. By opting for a treatment that does away with bad energy in the body, by targeting certain medians, one can get pregnant and have not only one baby but twins or even triplets in the bargain!

Toothache Pain Treatment
Acupuncture is an 8000 year old Chinese practice of relieving pain and healing. The ancients discovered that pain was mostly caused by blocked energy pathways. When these obstacles were released, with it went pain.
The instruments used in the olden days were blunt knives and bones from fishes. These impromptu tools were used to clear energy pathways. Modern technology provides trained acupuncturists like the ones practicing at Acupuncture of Columbus, with fine needles as thin as a strand of hair to perform the same function.
Acupuncture for toothache
Acupuncture can effectively relieve post-operative tooth pain. Chinese medicine practioners believe that tooth pain was a result of storing excess heat within the body or when energy flow is restricted along the mouth. Relieving dental pain is successful when the treatment is directed towards detoxifying pathways and easing circulation around the region affected. The role of acupuncture is to open channels that open into the lower or upper jaw.
3 acupuncture points for relieving tooth pain
- Point ST-7: This point is colloquially called the point ‘below the joint’. ST7 is the acupuncture point is along the stomach meridian is used for the treatment of pain along the lower jaw. The location of the point is in front of the ear- the point where the jaw meets the cheekbone. An acupuncturist will insert a sterile needle into this cavity to address any problems around the mouth region and poor digestion.
- Point ST-6: Colloquially this point is known as the ‘jawbone’. The location of this spot is along the stomach meridian and is linked to relieving troubled jaw including toothaches. The spot is situated in front of the mandible hinge over the fatty portion of the masseter muscle. There are over 45 points which are connected to the stomach median from head to toe. This channel is used to treat tooth ailments because of its well established regulation of stomach enzymes and acid.
- TH-21: TH-21 is also known as the ‘ear gate’. The location of this point is at the junction where the upper ear meets the jawbone. Upper jaw toothache is relieved by pricking a sterilized needle into this cavity. While the above two spots are a part of the stomach meridian, TH-21 belongs to the ‘triple heater’ meridian. This regulates the function of head, navel and chest. Given its name, the meridian is linked to hear or yang energy. All three points, ST-7, Th-21 and ST-6 are used in combination to address toothache.
There are many testimonials proving the effectiveness of acupuncture. It is to be noted here that acupuncture is used as a complement therapy or a post-operative treatment. The science of acupuncture addresses the symptoms and not the causative agent or source. If the toothache is persistent even after multiple sessions of acupuncture, consult a dentist to identify the problem. Before booking a session with our acupuncturist at Acupuncture of Columbus located at Columbus, OH, consult with the dentist. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Treatment
Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD as it is commonly referred is a condition that arises when a person witnesses something scary. The individual may get away from the troublesome state, but the memories remain constant. This can set off a spate of anxiety attacks when the person is confronted with a trigger. The brain is unable to decipher the extent of the damage and memories or emotions can cause the person to keep on reliving the problem without being able to move on with her or his life.
General Symptoms of PTSD
- A pattern where the person remains frozen in time which borders on extreme fear.
- Insomnia resulting in physiological conditions taking root like hypertension, stress, and other conditions.
- Sadness, anger, worry, tension, fear, feeling on edge, anxiety, frustration, lack of focus on anything other than the issue and confusion are some of the symptoms.
- A lack of interest in eating, limited exposure to the outside world, living in a closed environment, joint stiffness and other problems.
Why Help is Necessary
When the condition does not disappear after a couple of weeks or months, the patient will need counseling and anti-depressants. Unfortunately, if the person cannot get past the stage, s/he will need further assistance and surprisingly acupuncture works rather well in this sphere. One can refer to this alternative science because it affects a change in the mindset of the person. Sterilized needles are placed in certain points that help in relaxing the patient as the autonomous nervous system is calmed. He will be able to sleep, any tension in the body is released and the fear psychosis is slowly eradicated.
Ancient Chinese Treatment to the Rescue
Living in fear because of an incident should not paralyze the mind or body of a person. By using this ancient Chinese treatment, the neural pathways of the system are strengthened to ensure that there is a robust system in play for the body and the mind. Auricular acupuncture is quite a profound way to treat post-traumatic stress disorder. The needles are placed in a variety of touch points in the ear, which is connected and supplied, by a number of blood vessels and nerves to the body. This ensures that acupuncture as a form of science, physical therapy, and alternative medication changes the behavioral and cognitive patterns in the brain. Flashbacks are reduced, sleep apnea along with pain done away with, headaches, migraines and any worries are slowly released.
Find the Right Specialist to Solve the Problem
Research and results are indicative that the ancient Chinese form also known as an alternative treatment, is very promising in treating the condition of post-traumatic stress disorder. Living with a mental anxiety disorder is not only frustrating for the person going through PTSD but people around also feel the heat.
