you\u00a0adapt to your surrounding by subtly connecting you to the rhythm of the\u00a0seasons. \u00a0In the winter eat more contractive vegetables (vegetables that are more Yang in nature therefore are more warming). \u00a0These include hearty, sturdy leafy greens, compact vegetables and downward-growing roots\u00a0such as carrots, kale, collards, broccoli, parsnips, rutabaga and turnips.\u00a0These will not only weather the frost but taste sweeter afterwards!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanacupuncturecenter.org\/dietary-ways-to-increase-immunity-in-the-winter\/attachment\/87\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-349\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-349\" title=\"87\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanacupuncturecenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/87.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>We\u00a0gain stamina and vitality when we eat them in the winter. \u00a0Winter style cooking is cooking that is more yang or more warming. \u00a0Slow-simmer, pressure-cook, bake or saute your meals. \u00a0Serve and eat every meal warm\u00a0versus raw and cold. \u00a0When it&#8217;s cold outside you want to consume foods\u00a0that are cooked and warming. \u00a0Whereas in the warmer months it is more\u00a0acceptable to eat raw and cooling foods to help your body cool off. \u00a0Add a\u00a0little sea salt,\u00a0miso, tamari soy sauce or sauerkraut to your meals. \u00a0And enhance your\u00a0recipes with green onions, sea vegetables, ginger and dried herbs.<\/p>\n<p><span class='st_facebook' st_title='Dietary Ways to Increase Immunity in the Winter'
