About Us – Peter Wilson
Well-being is our natural state. It is this core belief that drives my passion for the healing arts, and this belief has been, and continues to be, reified through my life experiences. Until well into college, I led a relatively uncontemplated life; I went to school, was a gamer, hung out with friends, played music. But I felt a bit like a passenger, like life was on autopilot, and without knowing it, I was along for the ride. When I began my collegiate study of mathematics, it was because I was good at it, and because I needed a major to continue the societally “set in stone” track of education. It wasn’t passionate.
Deep emotional scars, meditation, dear friends, and incredible experiences began to open up my mind to the size of the world and the potential for this time on Earth. Life began to feel like an opportunity instead of a ride. My want for a meaningful career inspired me to take a year off of school to find my desired goal, which led me to study psychology for a year and jazz drumming for two. I developed tendinitis in my wrist from my pursuit of drumming, and that travail led me to my purpose as an acupuncturist. It was the only therapy I found that helped heal something Western medicine was only able to mask.
Our natural state becomes obscured by the ignorances, tribulations, and injuries of our life, and I view acupuncture as a catalyst that helps return our psyche, emotions, and body to the flowing integration they are meant to become. When properly contemplated, not a step on the path leading me to acupuncture was wasted. I still use the logic of mathematics, the humanism of psychology, the passion and creativity of music, and the appreciation of frivolity to try and balance my practice, my daily life, and my pursuit of that natural state. I hope that through this, I can help as many people along their journey as possible, and
that as knowledge of acupuncture’s potential spreads, the proper symbiosis of Eastern and Western medicine will begin to flourish in this country.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Professional Master’s Level Acupuncture Program at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in July of 2015, I am certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and I am licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board.
