About Us -Wei Qin

My decision to study Chinese medicine in college was made in large part by observing how much my father benefited from it during his long battle with leukemia. With the help of a Chinese medicine doctor, my father’s condition eased and he lived for several more years. I attended six-year medical program in Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine which is China’s number one Chinese medicine college.

Once I completed college, I worked for five years at the Beijing Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine practicing both Chinese and western medicine. Interested in gaining more knowledge about western medicine, I decided become a radiologist specializing in ultrasound. I later sub-specialized in vascular ultrasound. I practiced for several years at Peking University First Hospital, one of the three major hospitals in Beijing and one of the ten largest hospitals in the China. While practicing, I was also a member on the Society of Ultrasound Vascular Medicine Committee, which is over seen by Chinese Medicine Association, and I wrote part of the Guidelines for Vascular Ultrasound that was used throughout China.

Since immigrating to the United States in 2012, I have continued to work in the medical field as a sonographer with a focus on vascular related diseases. During this time, I also continued to practice oriental medicine on family and friends in China. Over the last few years, I have been rediscovering my passion for Chinese Medicine. This lead to me to sitting for and passing five required exams, administrated by NCCAOM and CCAOM, in a period of six months, allowing me to obtain an Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine licenses from the state of Ohio. During this time, I found that I still have a deep understanding of and great appreciation for Chinese Medicine. I believe that my experience of practicing medicine in both China and the United States provides me with the diverse medical skills and knowledge to help others in resolving their medical issues and concerns. As such, I am excited to have the opportunity to help Urban Acupuncture Center’s client with their particular needs.
